Pilots of local field-based governance of mining resources, within the framework of a supply chain model for free-conflict minerals and without worst practices

Dates: 2018 – 2019

Intervention country: Colombia (Cauca)

Program: CRAFT

Donor: Swedish-Norwegian Fund for Cooperation with Colombian Civil Society (FOS)

Mission

Thanks to the support of FOS, ARM has the opportunity to fortify the CRAFT program for two years in the department of Cauca, specifically in Suárez. The project aims to achieve the following results:

  • Strengthened capacities of institutions and civil society to create, implement, and monitor a pilot model of local governance of mining resources.
  • Improved access to rights for the local mining population, as part of a pilot for the establishment of a conflict-free supply chain and the elimination of worst practices. This work will involve the women gold panning associations of Suárez, as well as the mining cooperatives of the municipality.

Visibility, impact, and discussion of the pilot model of local governance of mining resources and of a supply chain free of conflict in Suárez at the national and international level.
