Sourcing gold from the artisanal and small-scale mining sector can be complex
With increasing national and international norms and regulations for the extraction and trading of gold, buyers can face many challenges in finding legal, formal, traceable, conflict free and responsible sources of gold. If you are looking to source gold from the artisanal and small-scale mining (“ASM”) sector, ARM is strongly positioned with the skills, experience, credibility and methodologies to provide you with the solutions you need.
Through the Sustainable Mines Program we provide the gold industry with different models to engage with responsible artisanal and small-scale mining. Get to know them here:
We provide positive solutions for companies to engage with the ASM sector in a meaningful and effective way, providing access to responsible sources of precious metals and minerals.
We have a deep understanding of the ASM sector working with mining organizations and stakeholders from all stages of the value chain, following a bottom up approach in building on local traditional knowledge. We have experience successfully engaging at both the local and national levels, coordinating with governments, regulators, services providers, and mining organizations to build traceable responsible supply chains.
With our partners we have established some of the world’s first fully traceable supply chains for responsibly mined gold from artisanal miners, facilitating trading relationships with refiners and jewellers from North America and Europe. We’ve helped gold buyers who had no prior experience sourcing directly from artisanal miners establish responsible supply chains and we’ve assisted artisanal miners in exporting for the first time, breaking their dependence on local buyers and providing them access to the international gold markets.
