Project Summary:
The project provides continuity to actions that have been carried out in Chocó between WWF Colombia and the Alliance for Responsible Mining. These amendments will advance the strengthening of mining organizations, especially a group of subsistence mining women in the process of consolidation in the Pan American Union, in compliance with Ruling T-622 of 2016 of the Constitutional Court, as well as in aspects such as the design of Forest Smart Mining (FSM) criteria for inclusion of REDD pre-feasibility projects; strengthening the communication and community governance processes between the Community Council Boards and the miners who are part of the ASM; contributions with inputs, participation or impact on mining regulatory processes within the framework of the new National Development Plan; and finally the generation of inputs for updating the Guide to Good Mining Practices.
Objective:
- Design the Forest Smart Mining (FSM) criteria for inclusion in the REDD+ pre-feasibility project
- Contribute to the strengthening of communication and community governance processes between the Community Council Boards and the miners who are part of the ASM.
- Contribute with inputs, participation or impact on mining regulatory processes within the framework of the new National Development Plan.
Contribute to updating the Guide to Good Mining Practices - Strengthen a group of ancestral artisanal mining women in the municipality of Unión Panamericana -Cocomaupa.
Beneficiaries:
Mining communities of the Greater Community Council of the Pan American Union and the Greater Community Council of Alto San Juan.
Expected Results:
- Strengthening the organizational process of artisanal mining women of the Pan American Union in terms of leadership, human rights, governance, formalization, financial literacy.
- Generation of inputs and documents regarding mining regulatory processes within the framework of the new National Development Plan.
