2015 was another exciting year for the Alliance for Responsible Mining, with new projects, products and innovative work streams that had a significant impact on our main beneficiaries: the artisanal and small-scale miners worldwide.

•    $435.191 in Fairmined Premium generated.
•    More than 5000 direct and around 15.000 indirect beneficiaries.
•    7 new Fairmined certified mining organizations in Colombia, Bolivia and Mongolia.
•    The first certified mining organization producing Fairmined Ecological Gold.
•    For the first time in history, the Nobel Peace Prize was made out of Fairmined Gold.

But success doesn’t come without challenges which we want to be very transparent about as well: Policy environments for artisanal and small-scale mining are becoming more and more aggressive, armed conflict in Colombia affects our fieldwork and balancing supply and demand of Fairmined certified gold is always challenging.

This year’s Annual Report is structured around the 4 core strategies to implement our “Theory of Change” which aims at generating positive long-term impact for artisanal and small-scale miners. These core strategies represent our main areas of work through which we want to make change happen: assisting miners on the ground, developing standards and certification systems, developing responsible supply chains for certified gold and promoting inclusive policies in the mining sector.
