Today we have the pleasure to launch a new space for dialogue on artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM): our blog. With this blog we want to engage actors from outside and within the sector to join the discussion on ASM and the policies, initiatives and issues surrounding it. It is the conviction of the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) that only multi-stakeholder dialogues and initiatives, inclusive of the miners themselves, can help solve the challenges of the sector.

In the first blog entry, Executive Director in ARM Lina Villa asks the question: Where is the mining sector heading? As a sector with enormous impact on local economies and communities, it will have its own role to play in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The question is how we make the SDGs an opportunity for the sector and for the 100 million people that depend on artisanal and small-scale mining in the world. What does it take and who are to act?

Read, engage and join the discussion in our blog. We will continue to invite bloggers to share their thoughts on the sector, so stay tuned for entries in the upcoming months as well.
