In March 2013 the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) signed an agreement of cooperation with the aim of improving the social, economic and environmental performance of artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) in Latin America.

As part of Component 1, the project will carry out the creation of a Centre for Training and Consultancy for Artisanal and Small Scale, which is a system of training and accreditation of persons multipliers of knowledge working with Artisanal Organizations and Small Scale (OMAPEs) in mining communities. To accomplish this, ARM has developed a series of modular courses on various topics identified as priorities to improve the performance of OMAPEs.
