ASGM MERCURY REDUCTION DECLARATION – ARM invites ASM miners to sign the petition.
As a part of the consultation process to an international legally binding instrument on mercury, UNEP organised a Global Forum on Artisanal and Small Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) on 7-9 December 2010.
ASM miners representatives present at the event issued a joint declaration, aiming to bring the issues of the Artisanal and Small-scale Mining sector to the agenda of the international negotiation committee, who will be discussing the mercury instrument between 24-28th January at the next meeting in Chiba, Japan.
