Support the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Organization “La Coqueta” from Caldas, Colombia, in the implementation of their sustainability plan, improving their ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices, with the final objective of reaching Fairmined certification.

The project implemented with La Coqueta mine reached an overall compliance of 84% of the activities. Each of the nine strategies had considerable growth. The strategies with the highest growth were Environment, Health and Safety in Mining and Gender; each of them improving over 20%.

In conclusion, the development of each of the activities allowed La Coqueta to positively improve its Environmental, Social and Governance practices. It came very close to achieving Fairmined certification, but significant obstacles were encountered, such as requesting studies to delimit an existing forest area as forest conservation area within the mining title.
