In order to collaborate in advancing our objectives of improving good governance, social, environmental and labor practices and the implementation of ecosystem restoration practices in ASM, ARM and the Sustainable Artisanal Mining SAM project in Mongolia have recently signed a MoU.

The SAM project in Mongolia aims to contribute to rural development and poverty reduction by working with all stakeholders to ensure that artisanal miners are recognized as a responsible and organized community contributing to sustainable rural development.

ARM and SAM will collaborate in the facilitation of the Fairtrade and Fairmined (FT&FM) certification of Mongolian artisanal and small scale miners through enabling exchanges, training programs, and networking. ARM and SAM will also collaborate in establishing an Asian Network of all interested parties involved in ASM in the region.

ARM sees the MoU with SAM as a great opportunity to bring even more miners towards Fairtrade y Fairmined certification expanding our work in Asia, and as yet another step towards transforming the artisanal and small scale mining sector.
