Responsible artisanal and small-scale mining laboratories: from dialogue to action
Dates: 2017 – 2018
Country of intervention: Colombia and Peru
Donors: Ford Foundation

Mission
The Alliance for Responsible Mining, with the support of the Ford Foundation, starts this project with the aim of contributing to the empowerment of rural communities – and especially the vulnerable population – that is engaged in artisanal and small-scale mining activities in Colombia and Peru. One of the goals of the project is to move towards the adoption of better mining practices and their greater inclusion in local development policy processes.
To achieve this, ARM promotes “Responsible artisanal and small-scale mining laboratories”, spaces for critical thinking and decision making for local change that will promote dialogue, bringing together multiple actors to construct a shared vision of sustainable development of ASM from within the territories.
In this first phase of the project, a territorial diagnosis is being made in Peru which will allow selecting the intervention area and ensuring the feasibility of the project.
