Project summary:
The project is aimed at increasing knowledge about the reality of Artisanal and Small-scale Copper Mining (ASCM) in Peru to propose an open dialogue on its future and sustainable development among all stakeholders of the ASCM value chain. The main deliverables will be a research document with policy recommendations and the implementation of a series of dialogue roundtables, which ultimately resulted in recommendations for future activities.
Objective:
improve knowledge about the reality of the ASCM sector in Peru to enable an open dialogue about its future and sustainable development among all actors in the copper ASM value chain.
Target audience:
Small-scale copper miners in Peru and actors in the copper value chain in Peru.
Expected results:
- participatory characterization research of the ASCM, to understand the challenges in which small-scale copper miners engage.
- Dialogue process with relevant stakeholders to socialize, validate and adjust (if necessary) the ASCM participatory characterization research, in addition to gathering inputs to develop strategies and action plans involving key actors in the ASCM.
- Communicate and disseminate the experience with international stakeholders.
