Between April 2 and May 15, the Alliance for Responsible Mining carried out the virtual course “Formalization of small-scale mining” in which 83 Colombian public officials from different government entities participated. The course was created within the framework of the “Somos Tesoro” project with the objective of providing civil servants and public officials with knowledge and tools on the formalization process of small-scale mining in Colombia.
With a duration of 40 hours, the course was composed of five learning units. Through these, the key concepts about the Colombian mining industry, the mining policy, the national, regional and local competences of the mining institutions in Colombia and the activities being carried out by each one of the entities and organizations involved were explained.
The people who participated were able to understand their role in the process and how they can contribute so that more and more miners are included and successfully complete their formalization process.
